Developers have officially begun construction on Tameike Sanno Tower, a 150-m-tall office building planned near the Tameike Sanno Station in Tokyo, Japan Property Central reports. Under the industrial firms Sekisui House and Nippon Life Insurance Co., the Akasaka 2 Chome Project will see a 28-story office building with a total floor area of 74,000 m2 for a 5,988-m2 site along Sotobori Street and across from Sanno Park Tower. The lower floors will include retail space. The building is expected to attain a five-star BELS rating and ZEB Oriented energy efficient certification. The site is the former land for the Kokusai Akasaka Building. The 19-story building, built in 1973, had a total floor area of 62,700 m2. Back in 2006, daVinci Holdings paid JPY100 billion (US$749 million) for the building and land before surrendering ownership to creditors. In 2014, Reuters reported that Sekisui House was acquiring the property for JPY74 billion (US$724 million). Completion of the project is expected in June 2024.
