A real estate developer and a video game company are collaborating to develop a high-rise office tower and a museum in Yokohama, Japan, Japan Property Central reports. Plans are to build a 28-story office tower with 110,000 m2 of space, along with a separate building housing a game art museum and retail space. Daiwa House Industry and an affiliated company of Koei Tecmo have entered into a contract to spend JPY25.3 billion (US$230 million) to buy 6,199 m2 of land in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai 21 waterfront district from the government’s Ministry of Finance. A further 5,618 m2 of city-owned land will be purchased in June 2022 for the project, bringing the total land size to a little over 11,000 m2. Construction is scheduled to start in January 2023 and be completed by July 2026.
