Otis has secured a contract to modernize 29 escalators for A-Train AB, the operator of the Arlanda Express, which connects the Stockholm, Sweden, city center to Arlanda Airport. The project, starting in September 2025, will upgrade the 30-year-old escalators, which were originally installed by Otis in the 1990s. The modernization will include replacing motors, the steps and the interconnected chains that move the steps and electrical wiring, alongside improvements to meet the latest safety standards. Otis’ proposal for extensive modernization – rather than complete replacement – was chosen as the “best and most sustainable option and will minimize disruption for around five million passengers who use the Arlanda Line annually,” according to the press release.
