by Gülay Pala
Representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, TSE, manufacturer firms, product certification bodies and sector representatives attended the event held on June 18, 2025, at Teknopark Ankara, where they had the opportunity to gain up-to-date information on product safety and certification processes.
In his opening remarks, Cem Bozdağ, chairman of the Board of Directors of TASFED, said: “Technology is advancing, cities are growing and human mobility is increasing. Amidst all these changes, our greatest responsibility is to sustain a production and inspection approach that prioritizes safety. Especially in vital components such as speed regulators, brakes and bumpers, the proper execution of certification processes and effective market surveillance are of great importance for the future of our sector. This seminar is not only an opportunity to share knowledge but also to foster collective wisdom. Strong cooperation between the public sector, private sector and academia will increase our competitiveness at both the national and international levels.”
The seminar program continued with a presentation by TASFED Director Gülay Pala Binboğa on the history of TASFED, its activities and the benefits it has provided to the sector.
The presentation on the main topic of the seminar, “Testing and Analysis Methods in Safety Devices,” was given by Electrical Engineer Serdar Tavaslıoğlu, one of the leading figures in the sector. In the first part of his presentation, Tavaslıoğlu touched on the following topics under the heading of “Test Analysis Evaluations:”

- The General Structure of an Acceleration Graph
- The General Structure of Graph Waves
- Evaluation of an Acceleration Graph
- Brake Test Analysis
- Graphical Control of a Brake Test
- Buffer Test Graph Analysis
- General Evaluation of Test Graphs
The second part of the presentation is titled “Safety Device Test Methods:”
- Type Analysis Against Free Fall of the Cabin Downward
- Determination of Brake Capacity
- Gradual Safety Device
- General Force Calculations for Safety Devices
- Type Examination Against Excessive Upward Acceleration of the Cabin
- Rail Standard and Rail Characteristics
- Graphical Evaluation of the Brake Test
