East London Railway System Inks VT Monitoring Deal

Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has inked a deal with vertical-transportation (VT) equipment monitoring company WeMaintain to provide predictive maintenance for 86 lifts and 30 escalators, the East London Advertiser reports. Observing it had Europe’s first computer-controlled driverless trains when it opened in 1987, DLR links the Canary Wharf development with the Isle of Dogs and Stratford in East London. Under the deal, WeMaintain will use sensors to provide data to DLR engineers in real time, providing early warnings about VT equipment failure so problems can be proactively resolved.
