In Memoriam: John W. “Jack” Andrews

John W. “Jack” Andrews

John W. “Jack” Andrews of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 2 surrounded by family at age 91. A Korean War veteran who graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Andrews spent his entire career as a sales engineer at Standard Steel Specialty Co. He was well-known in the passenger elevator industry, and many of his customers, such as Marv and Helen Schumacher of Denver, Iowa-based Schumacher Elevator Co., became lifelong friends. “Jack was a genuine, great guy and one of the first individuals I met in the elevator industry at the National Association of Elevator Contractors 1993 convention,” Schumacher CEO Jeff Schumacher said. A family man with a strong work ethic, Andrews had a passion for private airplane ownership and piloting. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marion; two sons, Thomas and James; and four grandchildren. Memorial donations in Andrews’ name may be made to The Salvation Army.
