River Ring, a proposed two-skyscraper residential development in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, has come closer to construction with the plan recently picking up approval, New York YIMBY reports. The project, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Two Trees Management, would bring 1,050 homes — 263 affordable — to a 3.5-acre riverfront site, plus a 6-acre, circular waterfront park designed to help protect the area from storm surges and flooding. Community Board 1, by a 20-15 vote on September 14, gave its support to River Ring on the condition that the affordable housing component be increased from 25% to 50%. The project awaits approvals by the Brooklyn borough president and the city Planning Commission. As scheduled, River Ring is expected to be completed by 2030.
