The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and The Durst Organization have issued new renderings of One World Trade Center (WTC). The organizations are jointly developing the 3-million-sq.-ft. office tower now under construction in Lower Manhattan, New York. According to NY Daily News, the renderings are the first new images released to the public in five years and revealed a few design changes from previous pictures. The changes include the elimination of casing around the tower’s 408-ft.-tall antenna and the addition of steel horizontal and vertical panels to encase the base of the building. Upon its scheduled completion in early 2014, One WTC will rise 1,776 ft. to the top of its spire, making it the tall-est building in the Western Hemisphere (ELEVATOR WORLD, September 2012).
