NYC Lawsuit Filed Over Subway Escalator Injury

Patch reported on November 4 that an NYC couple has filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) alleging that a malfunctioning escalator “violently” propelled the man down, “resulting in severe and permanent personal injuries.” The incident occurred in August 2020 at the 72nd Street and Second Avenue subway station on the city’s Upper East Side. The plaintiffs allege that the escalator was improperly maintained. They are seeking monetary damages “for personal injuries, pain and suffering, emotional distress, medical and hospital bills, and loss of earnings,” according to court documents. In addition to MTA, the lawsuit targets NYC and the NYC Transit Authority.
