In Memoriam: Alexander Zachata

Alexander Zachata, a third-generation Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) Board of Directors (BoD) member, passed away on May 29 at age 35 due to complications while in the hospital in British Columbia, CECA announced. At the time of his passing, Zachata was CECA Western Region director and senior manager of technology and benefits at his family’s company, Richmond Elevator, in Richmond, B.C. On the CECA board, Zachata followed in the footsteps of his father, Vlad Zachata, and his grandfather, the late Walter Zachata. “Our hearts go out to Vlad, Irene (Alex’s grandmother and Walter’s widow) and Alex’s family and friends at Richmond Elevator,” CECA said. “Alex was a strong family man who always considered CECA part of his family. He was proud to be part of the CECA BoD and, in his short time on the board, was keen to share his ideas to strengthen and support CECA.” Further details will be shared as they become available.
