Montreal’s STM Makes Another Station Accessible With Elevators

On December 22, Société de transport de Montréal (STM) inaugurated elevators at the Jolicoeur metro station — the fourth STM station to be made accessible in the past six weeks and the sixth this year, the Montreal Gazette reports. The upgrades make 35% (24) of STM’s 68 stations fully accessible, following on the heels of the Pie-IX, Villa Maria and Angrignon stations getting new elevators in November and earlier this month. Another station — Berri-UQAM — is poised to become fully accessible with work underway to install an elevator for its third line. The other two lines are already accessible via elevators. STM plans to prioritize elevators at the remaining 38 stations based on geography and cost.
