Fujitec India Private Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan’s Fujitec Co. Ltd., announced on August 1 that a new, second elevator plant in the Chennai, India, suburbs is now fully operational. Also including a 78.9-m elevator test tower, the 39,000-m2 plant is part of Fujitec India’s plan to increase annual production capacity to 3,000 units by the end of 2023 — 1.5 times the current annual production capacity of 2,000. The move is in response to strong domestic sales, as well as further expansion of global business, including exports, under Fujitec’s medium-term Vision24 management plan. The main product produced at the new plant is the REXIA-S standard elevator model for the Indian market. In addition to India, Fujitec India serves Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.
