The NYC Economic Development Corp. (NYCEDC) on September 20 launched the NYC Mass Timber Studio technical assistance program that includes grants of approximately US$25,000 to support active mass timber development projects in the early phases of planning and design. Through November 8, the studio is seeking applications from design teams that want to conduct early design-phase mass timber and technical and financial feasibility studies to take projects toward development. The studio is operated by the NYCEDC and the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the Softwood Lumber Board, with technical assistance from the NYC Department of Buildings and the American Institute of Architects New York. Applications must be for a single project located in NYC. For complete rules and requirements, visit NYCEDC.
