Henrik Ehrnrooth, president and CEO of Finland-based KONE, has informed the Board of Directors (BoD) he will step down in the first half of 2024, KONE announced on October 2. Ehrnrooth joined KONE in 2009 as chief financial officer, assuming the roles of president and CEO in 2014. BoD Chairman Antti Herlin observed that KONE grew and transformed into a “true lifecycle-focused people flow company” under Ehrnrooth’s leadership, which commenced just as China’s construction “supercycle” was coming to an end. At that time, the company began to drive growth from services and digital technologies. The BoD has launched a search for Ehrnrooth’s successor, and Ehrnrooth plans to remain CEO through the transition. “We are at the cusp of China’s next, modernization-driven growth phase and see considerable opportunities across the globe from our customers’ increased need for smart and sustainable people flow solutions,” Ehrnrooth said.
