Otis India announced on August 28 it is expanding the capacity and capabilities of its Bengaluru manufacturing facility. The expansion will help Otis India meet growing demand for elevators and escalators domestically for residential, commercial and infrastructure development. It will also expand coverage into more cities throughout India. Established in 1996, Otis India’s Bengaluru facility boasts Indian Green Building Council Gold certification. The facility’s Lead Design Centre has launched more than 25 products for India, as well as the export market. A previous expansion in 2012 doubled plant capacity, and the current expansion will further increase overall capacity by roughly 20% “supporting the growing needs of India’s vital mobility infrastructure,” Otis India President Sebi Joseph said.
