The Haidari-Piraeus Line 3 extension of the Athens Metro, a project of Attiko Metro S.A., served by 93 Otis vertical-transportation (VT) units, is complete, Railway-News and other outlets report. With six new stations, Line 3 connects the Piraeus Port and Athens International Airport in 15 min and is expected to serve approximately 130,000 passengers a day. Accessibility solutions from Otis include 21 Gen2® elevators and 72 heavy-duty escalators that Otis observed “contribute to making the Greek capital more sustainable, avoiding 23,000 cars on the road and achieving an environmental target of reducing 120 mT a day of CO2 emissions.”
