Eight days of meetings were held with representatives of 20 associations for the Elevator Symposium that will be held on October 15-17, 2020, in Izmir, which is organized by the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (TMMOB) and Chamber of Electrical Engineers, and carried out by the Izmir Branches.
Despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the whole world, including our country, preparations are carried out intensively. The Elevator Symposium will be held simultaneously with INELEX this year. Within this scope, meetings were held with the representatives of 20 associations in eight days in order to organize a more effective symposium and to reach common sense.
The Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (TMMOB) and the Chamber of Electrical Engineers, which aim to reach a higher participation despite the negative impacts of the pandemic, came together in the first two meetings of the Executive Committee.
Following their first basic studies, the chamber representatives, who held their third meeting through online platforms in order to maintain social distance, decided to hold separate meetings with the associations located in different cities to receive their opinions and suggestions.
In line with the decisions taken at Executive Committee meeting, which was held in order to a create common mind for the Elevator Symposium, based on the opinions and suggestions of the sector representatives, online meetings were held with the participation of association representatives, executive committee members and the event secretariat.

On May 13, 2020, Aegean Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (EAYSAD); May 14, 2020, Konya Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (KONAYDER); May 15, 2020, Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (AYSAD); May 18, 2020, All Elevator Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TASIAD); May 19, 2020, the Bursa Elevator Industrialists Association (BURSAD), Denizli Elevator Installation, Maintenance and Repair Tools Sellers Association (DENASDER) and the Eskişehir Elevator Industrialists Association (ESASDER); May 20, 2020, the Anatolia Elevator Industrialists (ANASDER), Kayseri Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (KAYSAD), Kırıkkale Elevator Industrialists Association and the Malatya Elevator Industrialists Association; May 21, 2020, Adana Elevator Industrialists and Businessmen Association (ADASIAD), Mediterranean Elevator and Escalator Industrialists and Businessmen Association (AKASDER), Gaziantep Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (GATSAD), Hatay Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (HATASDER), South East Anatolia Elevator Industrialists Association (GÜNAYSAD) and the Mersin Elevator Industrialists Association; and, on May 22, 2020, the Central Black Sea Elevator and Escalator Businessmen Association (OKASDER) and the Eastern Black Sea Elevator and Escalator Industrialists Association (DOKAS).
At the meetings, while the problems and working conditions of the elevator companies were requested to be addressed at the symposium, the importance of establishing platforms in order to review the activities of the elevator associations and state institutions and organizations was stressed.
During the symposium, it was requested that more importance to the trainings of the engineers and intermediate technical staff be given, and also that briefings about the training and laboratory studies from related parties be presented. The measures to be taken against the COVID-19 global epidemic were also asked to be addressed at the symposium. Additionally, opinions about increasing the participation for the symposium were shared.
