Dubai at night captured by TELME’s Muhsin
Having a mentor at work doesn’t just affect your work life, but other areas of your life, as well. Mohammed Muhsin credits his boss and mentor, M.J. Mohammed Iqbal, CEO of Toshiba Elevator Middle East (TELME), with introducing him to ELEVATOR WORLD, which he has been reading for the past three years, and with encouraging him to enter the EW 2020 Photo Contest. “Iqbal is an instrumental personality to encourage me to bring out my potential,” says Muhsin. One of Muhsin’s entries into the 2020 Photo Contest, taken from a high-rise building in Dubai Marina, shows an overhead shot of Dubai at night, with its building lights, streetlights and headlights illuminating the streets of the city. The shot captures the quiet beauty of the city after dark from the unique eye and angle of the photographer. Looking at the photo’s composition and quality, it’s hard to believe it was taken with a cell phone. “I found the frame to be picturesque for my eyes, and I wanted the same to be captured using my lens as well,” Muhsin explains. “I came across a glass window, and I stretched my hand to get the best view possible for an eye-catching nightscape picture.”
With a bachelor’s degree in computer science and his post-graduate degree in visual communication, Muhsin works in the procurement department at TELME. While this photo did not place in the photo contest, he had three other entries that did: one of his photos won first place in the “Machines and Components” category, another was an honorable mention in the “City Skylines and Tall Buildings” category and yet another won second place in the “Elevators (Commercial)” category. This makes it clear that, although he considers himself an amateur, Muhsin has an eye for photography.
