interlift 2023 Expected to Return to 2019 Numbers

by Lindsay Fletcher

interlift 2023 is expected to, once again, be one of the most important events in the lift industry. Trade fair organizer AFAG Messen und Austellungen GmbH has high expectations for interlift 2023, planned on October 17-20 at Augsburg Trade Fair Centre in Augsburg, Germany.

Organizers have said participation for this year’s event is expected to return to 2019 levels with greater international participation than ever before. At press time, representatives from 38 nations were expected to visit Augsburg, and the proportion of exhibitors who are not headquartered in Germany was 70%. More than 500 companies will present their innovations to expert guests from all over the world, the vast majority of which are decision-makers for their companies.

The strongest nation after Germany is, once again, Italy: Every fourth foreign exhibitor comes from there. Türkiye follows with 20%, Spain with 11% and China with 8%. Incidentally, interlift is the only trade fair in the world at which the China Elevator Association (CEA) presents itself. India moves up to fifth place — not least thanks to its first major joint presentation.

Achim Hütter, president of VFA-Interlift e.V. and managing director at HIEC GmbH, said:

“Compared to the previous event, interlift 2023 will take a giant step forward. In a world still characterized by risks, it is the safe platform for lift technology, it is the meeting place for the industry family, and it is the largest and most international lift trade fair of the year. We are already looking forward to it!”

As far as tickets, sales leading up to the event indicated that the number of visitors in 2023 is expected to exceed that of the previous event in 2022. The guest ticket contingent alone, which is provided free of charge by organizer AFAG for guests of presenting companies, was around 25,000 at press time, and exhibitors could also request additional tickets for their customers.

Exhibition Hall 2 – Home of the Associations and Trade Media

Leading associations and organizations in the industry use interlift as a platform for networking. In addition to VFA-Interlift e.V. as the sponsor of the fair, EFESME (European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises), ELA (European Lift Association), EEA (European Elevator Association), VmA, ANACAM and ANICA, among others, will be present, as well as the CEA. Organizations from India include International Sourcing Exposition for Elevators and Escalators and Virgo Communications and Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd. International media such as ELEVATOR WORLD, ELEVATORI, and German publications Lift Report and Lift Journal are also traditionally represented.

Hans Martin Lutz, member of the Board of VFA-Interlift e.V. and managing partner at Lutz Aufzüge, Hans Lutz Maschinenfabrik GmbH, said:

“Where else do we have the opportunity to discover innovations, experience trends, exchange ideas with colleagues from all over the world and to meet familiar faces again? Especially in times like these, personal exchange is perhaps more important than ever.”

Lift Experts’ Night

The VIP area of the nearby WWK Arena has proven to be an excellent venue for the exhibitors’ evening. In 2023, the exclusively designed lounge will again provide the perfect setting for Lift Experts’ Night. A free shuttle service will take guests conveniently from the fair to the WWK Arena and back again.

VFA Forum interlift ‘23: Highlights

One of the highlights of the forum accompanying the trade fair, with more than 40 international expert contributions this year, is the SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) special on the opening day of the trade fair with contributions on the changes in European regulations. This special block of topics is mainly aimed at medium-sized companies in the industry, which should keep an eye on the effects of the current changes in standards, directives and regulations.

Among others, Esfandiar Gharibaan from European Committee for Standardization Technical Committee 10 (CEN TC 10) will give an overview of the new machinery regulation. Current popular topics of digitalization, AI and cybersecurity, which are increasingly occupying the industry, will also be examined from different perspectives.

Proper preparation for an interlift visit begins on the homepage for interlift 2023 (interlift.de). It offers all available — and current — information, starting with the most current list of exhibitors and new products at the fair, along with travel tips and timetables.
