AKE Elevator and Escalator, which opened its doors to newly graduated young engineers, initiated the second phase of its Vocational Project (AKE-MEP) that was carried on in August and November 2020.

AKE Elevator, Escalator and Disability Systems, which operates at Antalya Organized Industrial Zone, will complete the second phase of the Vocational Project with the 23 trainees selected among 700 applicants.

30% of the trainees are female engineers

The vocational trainings for the trainee, 30% of which are female engineers, will continue until May. The trainees who will be assigned to elevator, escalator, disability systems and cassette panel departments will also receive training at purchasing, production planning and logistic departments. At the end of the heavily demanded training supported by ISKUR, a minimum of 15 inexperienced engineers will be employed at the company.

The company, which opened its doors to the newly graduated who do not meet the qualification of “being experienced” in job applications, initiated the second phase of the project with a meeting held with the trainees.

“We will provide experience without seeking experience”

Canan Keskin Gürkan, the Vice President of AKE Elevator, stated that, unlike other companies that seek experienced engineers, they provided the opportunity for the newly graduated students to gain experience. She added:

“We wanted to shoulder responsibility to contribute employment and to popularize our profession among the next generations. We completed the first phase successfully and got prepared for the second phase of the project. Elevator and escalator production is a developing industry all over the world. Graduates of Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering departments can attend our Vocational Training Project. Nineteen trainees attended the first training, and we employed 18 of them at the end of the training. Our plan is to employ a minimum of 15 trainees at the end of the second training. Additionally, our expert engineer who worked for the project in AKE has been mentor and our trainee engineer graduated from AKE MEP 1 will accompany our trainees as assistant mentor. We will provide experience without seeking experience.”

Project gives hope to inexperienced engineers

Veli Tekkanat, Provincial Director at Antalya Labor and Employment Agency, noted that the project organized by AKE Elevator, Escalator and Disability Systems is an exemplary practice in terms of generating employment, and it gives hope to inexperienced engineers.

Zeynep Yalçıner, Coordinator of the Vocational Training Project, informed the trainees about the training processes.

“Our target is to contribute to the industry with innovative projects”

In his opening speech, AKE Chairman Çetin Keskin stated that they have provided newly graduated engineers the chance to gain experience through this vocational project, and the trainings will be given in the elevator, escalator, disability systems and cassette panel departments guided by mentors. “Our target is to contribute to the industry with innovative projects. I wish success to young engineers,” said Keskin.
