The Elevator Industrialists Association (BURSAD) hosted the Turkey Elevator Industrialists Federation (TASFED) and BTSO MESYEB President Karakök at a breakfast on August 5, 2021.
TASFED President Yusuf Atik in a speech at the event where the sectoral development in the region was assessed, said many of the existing elevators abroad were at least 100 years old, and said, “Existing elevators in many countries, like Germany, Italy, Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, should be modernized.”
“We Should Strengthen Our Cooperation and Be More Active in International Markets”
President Atik said existing elevators in Turkey are new, in line with the development of vertical housing, and said, “In foreign countries, we see that 100-year-old elevators are still used. Elevator costs are very high abroad. Therefore, they prefer receiving this service from us, thanks to the high-quality production approach of our industrialists and our attractive prices. We should be more active in international markets.”
The Elevator Industry is a Strategic Industry
Stating that the elevator industry reached an export volume of 245 million dollars in 2020, versus an import volume of 85 million dollars, Atik emphasized that the demand for elevators will continue due to the development of vertical architecture. Atik reminded the guests that, as a result of negotiations between TASFED and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, elevator investments are qualified as “strategic investments,” and added, “The elevator industry is now as valuable as strategic industries, such as the defense industry. Domestic production has also gained more importance.”
