BTSO Now Exports to Uzbekistan

Within the scope of UR-GE actions, Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), which is an umbrella organization of the business world in Bursa, held one-to-one meetings in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which accelerates business world with the UR-GE projects implemented in line with Türkiye’s export-based development goals, organized one of the most crowded activities held in Uzbekistan, a sister country which has a long history and strong cultural bonds, with a delegation composed of 135 people from 76 companies. Within the scope of UR-GE projects for the Construction and Building Materials and Elevator industry, BTSO delegation met with Tashkent Ambassador Olgan Bekar. At the meeting, attended by BTSO Vice Chairman İsmail Kuş, Board Member Alparslan Şenocak, Embassy Undersecretary Alican Aksoy and Uzbekistan and Türkiye Business People Association President Davut Azmi Erbaş, companies were debriefed about the Uzbekistan market and business culture. Thanks to B2B meetings, Bursa companies had the opportunity to meet with buyers from Uzbekistan and to promote their products to Uzbek business people. UR-GE projects member companies operate in Baby and Child, Construction and Building Materials, Elevator and Chemistry also were in the event.

“Tashkent is also a substantial hub for the neighboring countries”

BTSO Vice Chairman İsmail Kuş emphasized that the event, organized by 5 UR_GE projects and a delegation of 135 people, have been successfully completed, and said, “The companies had highly efficient B2B meetings. Due to the central position of Tashkent, the event also attracted visitors from the neighboring countries, including Kirghizstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. As Bursa is a production center, we should provide the opportunity bring these products together with buyers from other countries. UR-GE projects provide a major tool in this regard. Within this context, I would like to thank the Ministry of Commerce for their support.”

“Uzbekistan provides an opportunity for our construction sector”

BTSO Board Member Alparslan Şenocak emphasized that they want to strengthen the strong historical ties between the two countries through commercial relations, and said, “Foreign trade volume between Türkiye and Uzbekistan has been 3.6 billion dollars in 2021.  Our target is to reach 5 billion dollars. Our construction sector is advantageous in Uzbekistan. UR-GE member companies attracted great attention of Uzbek business people.  We made a great effort to find space for the construction sector in foreign markets and with this purpose we held our first bilateral business meetings in Uzbekistan, within the scope of the UR-GE project on Construction and Building Materials”.

“Uzbekistan is an attractive country for production”

BTSO Construction Council President and Council Member Ali Tuğcu stated that the construction sector has a worldwide success, and said, “Being here with our other UR-GE projects created a great synergy. While our construction sector develops, its coordinated development with other sectors, also brings sustainability that is crucial. Uzbekistan is an attractive country in terms of making production here in addition to selling goods. There is also the potential for selling products to the neighboring countries. As Uzbekistan is a member of Commonwealth of Independent States, making production here has some advantages for the companies. Therefore, our construction sector may find an important place here.”

“We want to improve our market potential here”

BTSO Machinery Council Chairman Cem Bozdağ stated that they could improve their foreign trade volume with Uzbekistan within the scope of UR-GE activities, and said, “It has been an efficient organization for our UR-GE companies and our country. Uzbekistan is a big market and we want to develop our potential here. We carry out UR-GE projects in order to improve our current potential. We already get positive results. Within this context, I would like to thank the Ministry of Commerce, BTSO Chairman İbrahim Burkay and board members.”
