Oldest golf outing in the elevator industry a big success

Judging from the smiles and suntanned faces, the approximately 100 participants in the Chicago Elevator Association’s (CEA) annual golf outing at Gleneagles Country Club in Lemont, Illinois, thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the August 2 event. No one won US$10,000 for getting a hole in one, but there were plenty of gifts to go around, with a 50/50 raffle and a US$10-a-head fee resulting in the handout of such prizes as golf clubs, fancy ice chests, food processors and tech gadgets.

Parts Specialists Inc.’s Glenn Duncan, who has organized the oldest golf outing in the elevator industry, tells ELEVATOR WORLD it was his 19th year running it. A total of US$1,500 was raised for the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF). The US$135 fee for members to attend included drinks, prizes and a delicious buffet dinner. In addition to Duncan, the golf outing committee included Tom Przybyla and Molly Cruz from Parts Specialists and Matt Dennett from RBN & Associates. The CEA thanks them, the event sponsors and Brad Hunt of The Peelle Co., who helped collect US$1,300 for the 50/50 drawing.

Chicago Elevator Open Champions for 2019 were Team Urban Elevator/Vantage/VDA, consisting of Justin Richards, Nick Schenk, Matt Jackson and Freddy Flores, who achieved a final score of 57, or -13 under par. Next year’s CEA golf outing is planned on August 7 at the same location.
