Smart Elevator Tech LLC’s new SmartLadderTM and SmartGate LadderTM non-retractable pit ladders comply with the newly released ASME A17.1-2022/B44:22 code, as does its patented, industry standard Retracta Ladder® retractable pit ladder. The SmartLadder removes power from the elevator motor and brake when up to 9.5 kg (21 lb) is applied to any rung of the ladder, per criteria set by code inquiry interpretation. Ladder electrical device (safety switch) options include:

Latching switch, manual reset (default): Switch removes power until manually reset; protects while on the ladder and working in the pit (not available for seismic installations)

Momentary switch: Switch removes power only when person is on the ladder; no protection while working in the pit

The SmartGate Ladderremoves power from the elevator motor and brake with a swing-open gate that makes all rungs of the ladder accessible, as required by code inquiry interpretation. It includes the SG PoleTM to facilitate reaching the gate for improved safety.

Both ladder series include an instructional warning sign and work with Smart Elevator Tech’s Divider Beam KitTM, a material- and labor-saving solution when its elevator pit ladders are mounted to divider beams.
