ELEVATOR WORLD China Correspondent Peng Jie took these pictures on a rainy day near the riverside of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal in Suzhou, China. The door measures roughly 5 m wide and 4 m high with three panels to each side. The giant cabin can hold 400 people or a 30-mT load. The elevator’s power comes from a machine with 12:1 roping.
