Controversial New ITV Center Greenlit in London
Apr 1, 2018
Despite opposition, a plan for new headquarters for broadcaster ITV London that consists of a multistory headquarters building of up to 14 stories and a 31-story residential tower has been greenlit by lawmakers in London’s Lambeth district, Building Design reported. The plan includes 214 homes, 44,434 m2 of office space and 216 m2 of retail. Opponents call the design by Hopkins Architects bland and say it will ruin a prominent, open patch of land on the Thames River. Planning officers contend the buildings are similar in height to nearby neighbors and that the two tallest elements of the headquarters building will be separated by a glazed atrium, meaning the building “does not appear as one, large imposing block.”
