Dear Readers of Elevator World Turkey, january February 2022
Feb 1, 2022
We left 2021 behind, a year that everyone wanted to get rid of. Unfortunately, we have felt the same at the beginning of the last year, and did not like 2020, either. While each coming year is worse than the previous one, we enter 2022 with a new COVID variant called Omicron. While the world fights with the variants of COVID-19 and the problems experienced in global supply chain, our country fights with political and economic crisis in addition to those. We have already forgotten about Omicron due to political and economic agendas in our country.
In the last two months, some important events were held both in our country and abroad. Eurasia Elevator Exhibition, which was organized in our country with a limited number of exhibitors after being postponed for three years, was flooded by visitors. In November, Izmir Elevator Symposium was held online for the first time. Organizers and participants of the event met at Tepeku-le Congress and Exhibition Center while the event was being live-streamed on YouTube and Zoom. Additionally, Turkey Elevator Industrialists Federation (TASFED), which supports education in Turkey, opened its third TASFED Academy in Kayseri.
In autumn, some overseas events were also held. The 72nd National Association Elevator Contractors (NAEC) Conven-tion and Exhibition, which is normally held in every September in USA, was held in New Orleans in October. The event was very-well attended despite its limited participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, at the end of November, ANACAM celebrated its 50th anniversary with a magnificent assembly in Milan. In this issue, you may read the articles on these two events, which we followed closely.
Also in this issue, we focus on the Doors and Door Op-erators, among the most important components in terms of passenger safety. You will find many valuable articles on doors, which both provides passenger safety during travel within the cabin and also prevent all from falling into the hoistway or being caught in fire, and also in terms of design and maintenance.
The winners of the 24th EW Project of the Year, which is arranged by Elevator World annually, was announced. Judging among the submissions in nine categories was difficult. Sub-missions came from USA, Canada, China, France, Spain, Greece, Taiwan, IAE and many other countries. In this issue, you may find the details of the winner projects with their photographs. Please get in touch with us if you have any noteworthy projects your company is working on that may be eligible for next year’s competition.
I hope the New Year will be prosperous and bring health and happiness to you and to all your loved ones.
