In this Project Spotlight, Atlantic Lifts Ltd. completes massive freight elevator project with time to spare.

Whitby, Ontario, Canada-based Atlantic Lifts Ltd. recently completed a project that involved manufacturing and delivering nine massive freight elevators to the Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant (WAP) in a quick turnaround timeline. With the completion of this project, Atlantic Lifts contributed to the efficiency of Stellantis in producing new electric vehicles, reaffirming the company’s commitment to delivering extraordinary results in the world of freight elevators. The massive project, which commenced on September 25, 2023, showcases the company’s ingenuity, precision and teamwork.

With more than 30 years of industry leadership, Atlantic Lifts Ltd. consistently demonstrates a commitment to crafting bespoke solutions for clients in need of high-quality, robust freight elevators.

Founded in 1991 by Elwood Ellis, the company’s legacy of quality and innovation recently passed into the hands of your author, an Elevating Device Mechanic Class A (EDM-A) with more than a decade of experience at Atlantic Lifts.

Project Overview

The Stellantis (Chrysler) WAP required nine specialized freight elevators to expedite the delivery of kitted parts to the assembly line. Facing a stringent timeline, Atlantic Lifts responded by manufacturing nine 10,000-lb-capacity elevators equipped with vertical bi-parting doors and full construction hoistways. The entire project was completed within 12 weeks, with the company turning all elevators over before full production ramp up.

Innovation at Its Core

In response to Stellantis WAP’s requirements, elevators were designed to transfer 10,000 lb of goods every 45 s without compromising reliability. Innovations for the project included pull cord automatic transferring, designated landing protection preventing forklift entry and custom controller logic for forklift-mounted operation. The careful design and construction of the elevators, resilient against constant forklift impact, exemplify the professionalism and attention to detail that characterized the entire project.

Exemplary Teamwork

The success of the Stellantis WAP freight elevator project is a testament to the dedication and expertise of Atlantic Lifts’ team. From advanced engineering to high-quality Canadian manufacturing and highly skilled elevator mechanics, each team member played a crucial role to ensure that Stellantis WAP has reliable elevators serving its operation for years to come.

Looking Ahead

As Atlantic Lifts celebrates the success of the Stellantis WAP freight elevator project, the company remains dedicated to its mission of providing high-quality, tailored elevators for diverse needs in the freight elevator industry. Atlantic Lifts looks forward to future opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of freight elevators and the elevator industry at large.
