Mississauga, Canada, will soon have a new tallest building, Urban Toronto reported in September, as M3 — an 81-story, 260-m-tall residential tower — is set to begin rising in the M City development. A design for the building, the third in M City, was unveiled by developers Rogers Real Estate and Urban Capital after a competition among several Canadian architectural firms. The winning design, by IBI Group, will result in the country’s tallest residential tower outside Downtown Toronto. The building will offer 879 units rising to the 77th floor, with the top four floors reserved for mechanical functions. It will feature penthouse suites and terraces, plus two-story townhomes at ground level. There will also be retail and a floor of office space. The building’s podium will be topped by amenities, including a gym and pool, behind double-height glass walls. A new, 2-acre, landscaped park is being developed across the street. The M City community, in the center of Mississauga, will eventually be home to about 10,000 people. A construction timeline was not reported.
