The vertical-transportation (VT) industry in India has been going from strength to strength during 2024. As we present EW India’s 2024 fourth-quarter issue, there is far greater awareness and emphasis on raising benchmarks to take accomplishments to an even higher level. While the market for VT in India is indeed booming, there is scope to look beyond borders at emerging opportunities across the spectrum.

Reflecting this idea is the issue’s theme, Expanding Capacities To Explore New Horizons, with the focus being on extending the scope for “Made in India” VT across domestic and international markets. The EW India editorial panel members have analyzed different facets of this proposition in their articles and evaluated the implications for the VT industry players in detail.

The one thing they are unanimous about is we need to look at the larger picture, which, in turn, comprises many smaller images, like a collage. There is a great deal of potential for growth, which can be harnessed at an individual level, as well as at an industry level. To make this transition successfully, it is essential to plan and implement strategies together, working in sync to achieve common goals.

Aspirations to tap global markets can be fulfilled by ensuring that “Made in India” VT is positioned and produced in a manner that instills confidence. India possesses the capability of becoming a global sourcing hub, so taking the process from concept to creation followed by systematic implementation is not only feasible, but also something that can be ramped up over time.

To enable this, the VT industry in India needs to take various stakeholder segments and end users into consideration, while also keeping international trends in mind when planning the way forward. Thereafter, modifications in approach, if any, need to be incorporated accordingly, as and when required.

The stage is set for VT industry members in India to take several giant steps forward and ensure that mentioning their offerings are “Made in India” makes them preferred brands worldwide. 2025 is just around the corner, and it already seems to be gearing up to be quite a memorable year.
