ECNY Supplier Showcase

ECNY-Supplier-Showcase

Fifth annual event showcases 92 booths for members of the Elevator Conference of New York and guests.

The Elevator Conference of New York (ECNY) hosted its Fifth-Annual Supplier Showcase – now a spring tradition – at the Villa Barone Manor in Bronx, New York, on April 9. The event featured an expanded show floor to accommodate additional exhibitors and booths. This year, a diverse 600 attendees visited 92 booths, representing all segments of the elevator industry. As in each prior year, the event continues to be free to attend for any ECNY member.

The showcase provided the rare occasion for vendors to speak not only to owners and principals, but also to the personnel working hands on with their products. When asked the reason for the continued success of the showcase, Kenneth Breglio, ECNY president, responded, “It offers a great opportunity to the field mechanics, supervisors and managers to see new products, meet vendors and give their feedback on products that they use.”

The exhibitors also eagerly anticipate the yearly showcase. Carlos Escobar, Jr. of Titan Machine Corp. explained a sentiment shared by many other exhibitors:

“Every year, this show gets bigger and better. Although we have customers all around the country and world, we especially look forward to seeing our friends at the ECNY Supplier Showcase. It gives us the opportunity to see so many of our local friends and customers in one place and develop those longstanding relationships here in the city we call home.”

At the showcase, the ECNY board was presented with a commendation from Bronx Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leonard Caro. After accepting the award, Breglio smiled and said, “The ECNY is very proud of the Supplier Showcase, and we get tremendous positive feedback from both the vendors and the attendees.”

Breglio also thanked those who worked on putting together a successful show:

“The board of directors worked very hard in putting this event together, and everyone deserves credit, especially Douglas Gilman and Bobby DeFrancesco. It also would not be as successful if it were not for Anthony, Max and their staff at the Villa Barone Manor.”

ECNY Hosts Third-Annual VIEEW meeting

by Barbara Allen

Thirteen Vertical Initiative for Elevator and Escalator Women (VIEEW) members attended the third-annual Elevator Conference of New York (ECNY) VIEEW meeting at the Villa Barone Manor on Tuesday, April 8 preceding the ECNY Supplier Showcase.

The following objectives were identified in this meeting:

  • Review and correct the membership list by creating a Gmail email account and using the contacts to keep the membership directory current. Volunteers will assist in following up with the bouncebacks.
  • The creation of an educational committee so each meeting will have some type of informative presentation.
  • Explore creating a marketing packet members could give or email to other women who may be interested in joining the VIEEW
  • Investigate the cost of creating a website for the VIEEW
  • Discuss the possible incorporation of regional chapters

VIEEW members are fortunate to have friends in the ECNY, who have provided a meeting room and delicious food and drink for the past three years. Our appreciation goes out to board members Kenneth Breglio, Bobby DeFrancesco, Andrea Magaziner, Douglas Gilman, Brad Hunt, Jack Morgan, James Duffy, Nicholas J. Montesano and Robert Cuzzi. The next meeting will be held during the National Association of Elevator Contractors 65th Annual Convention in San Antonio on September 8-11.
