Leveraging the rich history of providing elevator and escalator remote monitoring solutions to U.K. customers, Vantage, in collaboration with its acquired European business Thames Valley Controls (TVC), will be bringing best-in-class monitoring solutions to the North American market in the fourth quarter of 2023.
TVC, an elevator controls and monitoring solutions business acquired by Vantage in 2019, has been offering elevator and escalator remote monitoring solutions that seamlessly integrate with any control panel brand for more than 40 years. Adrian Mace, technical manager, embarked on his journey of elevator monitoring solutions with TVC in 1991. He said:
“I believe that the future of IoT [Internet of Things] and smart buildings will utilize real-time, condition and predictive monitoring, which will drastically change how building owners, building managers and elevator site mechanics work. I have witnessed the vast developments in elevator monitoring over the decades; the requirements of elevator service providers, building owners and building managers have significantly changed.
“Over the years we have always ensured that we offer a full portfolio of best-in-class services to a wide range of customers. I have seen the evolution, from basic real-time monitoring to condition monitoring and on to predictive monitoring; data scientist experts are employed to collect, analyze and interpret data to help drive the decision-making process for greater asset maintenance.”
Mace and his team at TVC work with more than 130 organizations across the private and public sectors, providing a comprehensive range of solutions to many London and national local authorities, housing associations, hospitals, universities, major transit networks and key retail outlets across the U.K. Spanning three levels of asset monitoring — real time, condition and predictive — TVC has more than 10,000 units installed, and counting.
With varying customer needs and requirements, Vantage’s monitoring solutions are flexible and versatile to accommodate a wide array of market sectors. Vantage is currently working with major independent elevator companies within the U.S., providing opportunities to monitor thousands of elevators. Two site pilots are now underway and learnings from these pilots will continue to be incorporated into the monitoring solutions.
Vantage has also participated at National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC), International Association of Elevator Consultants (IAEC) and Elevator U events to demonstrate the benefits of all of its monitoring solutions to elevator contractors, consultants and university campus managers. Feedback from these events has been very positive and learnings have been incorporated into feature development and continued product improvements.
The cloud-based Vantage CMS Anywhere System is the customers’ interface with their full elevator portfolio. CMS Anywhere drives digital building performance through monitoring and authenticating data to remote visual inspections of equipment on-site.
CMS Anywhere technology enables users to quickly and easily view all asset data, as well as a live CCTV feed. It also links directly to information screens at each elevator’s location. Screens provide notifications and updates of elevator and building service and planned outages for maintenance, as well as other building services, removing the need to reach out to each affected customer prior to work. All this can be done using a single web-based system from wherever the user is.
This system of next-generation monitoring devices from Vantage supports customers’ desire for a more sustainable approach, offering productivity enhancements, reducing site visits and saving time and fuel. The system is helping to facilitate smart buildings, leading the way as a predictive solution — always learning and adapting to each customer’s needs. Mace said:
“IOT tools improve productivity, reduce asset failure rates and save money — all while reducing our carbon footprint by eliminating unnecessary site visits. We see this as the future monitoring of lifts — and not just lifts — this system can be used across a variety of assets for real time, condition and predictive monitoring, managed from any device, anywhere.”
Vantage will be attending the NAEC Convention 2023 in Reno, Nevada, on September 11-13. Visit the Vantage booth (Booth Number 520) to learn more.
