Building a glass observation terrace, an elevator and a ropeway cable car in Ihlara Valley, alias “Pearl of Cappadocia” in Güzelyurt district of Aksaray, is planned.
In his statement to AA reporter, Aksaray Mayor Dr. Evren Dinçer said Ihlara Valley was an attraction center for tourists and Aksaray’s doorway to the world. He said visitors will take the opportunity to view the historical and natural beauties of the region from above.
“We have visitors from numerous countries around the world. Here is a valuable place both in terms of religious tourism and nature tourism. We are working on making improvements in Ihlara Valley. We have projects for building a glass observation deck and installing an elevator and a cable car. We carry out the studies under the responsibility of Aksaray Governorship and Municipality,” said Dinçer.
Dinçer underlined that the tourists who visit the valley after the project is completed will return to their countries with many memories, and said, “We have nice scenery in our valley. We will build a glass observation terrace here. We have already started the formal process of the project. Then, a tender will be initiated. The construction phase will begin immediately after the tender, and the project will be completed rapidly.”
Ihlara Valley, known as the entrance door of Cappadocia, has been visited by 135 thousand local and foreign tourists in the first seven months of the year. Tourists who enjoy trekking on three routes of 3.5, 7 and 14 km along the Melendiz Stream will take the opportunity to see the scenery, churches and historical places from a bird’s eye view when the glass observation terrace is completed.
