The Chicago Elevator Association (CEA) hosted its inaugural Night at the Races scholarship fundraiser on the evening of May 14 at Maywood Park, a track that traces its harness-racing roots to the early 1930s. Attendees placed their bets and cheered on their horses as they enjoyed a buffet dinner and top-shelf libations in an enclosed dining area above the track. Highlights included the third race being dedicated to the CEA, and several guests riding in the starter’s car (the car that pulls the mobile starting gate). The entire group posed for a winner’s circle group photo.
The event raised approximately US$4,000 for scholarships to be awarded to CEA members’ children who are graduating from high school and continuing their education. The CEA thanks everyone who attended and looks forward to increased participation in next year’s scholarship fundraiser. A special thank you goes to event sponsors, including Platinum Sponsor Formula Systems North America Inc.; Gold Sponsors Adams Elevator Equipment Co., C.J. Anderson & Co. and GAL/Hollister Whitney; and Silver Sponsors Elevator Products Corp. and Hidral USA, Inc.
CEA would also like to thank Tom Sybert for all of his hard work putting this great event together. Look for news about next year’s Night at the Races in ELEVATOR WORLD and at cea-online.org.
