At Anish Motwani Associates (AMA), we were tasked with creating a luxurious low-maintenance home for our clients in Mumbai. As always, working on large homes presents unique challenges, but with careful planning and attention to detail, we were able to bring together a warm and inviting space that perfectly met the brief.

One of the key features of this home is the hydraulic elevator that allows access to all floors. This, combined with a rich color palette and texture, gives the home an air of mystique and elegance.

Upon entering the home, guests are greeted by an entrance foyer clad with veneer and adorned with a beautiful brown mirror, creating a grand and vibrant space. The use of glass and mirrors throughout the living and dining areas only adds to the sense of sophistication. The designer has cleverly chosen two shades of veneer for the space, with a dark shade on the ceiling and a lighter shade below, adding depth and dimension to the room.

The dining area is designed for intimate dinners with loved ones, with large aluminum windows and translucent glass on the ceiling allowing for plenty of natural light. The flooring, a subtle blend of beige and dark brown marble, adds a touch of sophistication to the space.

Overall, the home’s design is elevated by using a simple color scheme, experimental patterns and textures and careful consideration of every space and corner. It is a truly luxurious and inviting space that is sure to impress.

I believe that a great design is the culmination of a tri-party relationship between a designer, the client and the space.

At AMA, we have carved a niche in the market where our designs meet client expectations. Since its inception, AMA’s motto has been “Making Sense Out of Space,” which we believe and carry religiously in each of our projects.

I believe that a great design is the culmination of a tri-party relationship between a designer, the client and the space. My role in this relationship is to translate clients’ tastes and lifestyles into their spaces while developing and maintaining a conceptual thread to ensure that the space reaches its maximum potential.

Working on large homes presents unique challenges.

Designing a home is always very challenging and motivating. It’s challenging because each individual’s needs/requirements are so different and peculiar, as every person has his or her own taste and lifestyle to add to the design. It often happens that two members of the same family fail to reach a consensus during the planning stage, and we have to find a mutually agreeable way out. But this is motivating also, as it pushes us harder to create something new in each of our projects.

Our design influences are grounded in a mix of contemporary culture and futuristic trends. The AMA team said:

“There is too much noise in design currently, hence tapping the current focus on functionality without clutter. We target our interior design spaces to be spacious, serene and quiet. We are changing and changing for good.”
