Bostonians are welcoming continued revitalization of the downtown area with the construction of the Millennium Tower on the site where Filene’s flagship department store used to stand. At 685 ft., this mixed-use skyscraper will be very tall—for Boston, anyway. The building’s 442 residences will offer views of the city that have never been seen before from a private home.
Reflecting on the construction phase of the building, ELEVATOR WORLD Correspondent Larry Fabian says:
“Getting materials and workers up to the top of the construction site. . .is not always an easy task. Not everyone realizes that elevators for construction workers are needed before the ones they are familiar with are installed inside live buildings.”
The tower will be completed next year, and tenants can move in as soon as the summer. Tenants include Arnold Worldwide and a Roche Bros. supermarket. World-renowned chefs Michael Mina and Ken Tominaga will open PABU Boston there in the fall.
