Mitsubishi Electric Corp. announced its new Diamond-Trac® 2 Series machine-room-less (MRL) elevator featuring a space-saving design, enhanced operational efficiency and a touchless hall operating panel for residences, offices and hotels in the U.S. Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. commenced sales of the new MRL on November 2 and aims to more than double annual sales in this category going forward. By changing equipment layout, the hoistway plane area has been reduced by 5-10% compared to the existing Diamond-Trac model, freeing up floorspace and allowing more flexible building designs. Optional features include the Destination Oriented Allocation System (DOAS®) for group-controlled multiple units and the PureRideTM (ELEVATOR WORLD, May 2021) no-touch control system. DOAS uses AI technology to enhance operational efficiency and boasts advanced features that satisfy U.S. market demands, such as precisely coordinated dispatch of cars to minimize wait and travel times during low-traffic periods. Building owners may select decorative designs for the hall operating panel. PureRide implements a proximity sensor that allows users to issue touchless requests for elevators.
Smart Production Solutions
Schmersal has introduced new, networking-capable Industry 4.0 safety switchgear systems that offer reduced size, which means requiring less space at lower cost, and digitization for greater process transparency and predictive maintenance concepts. AZM40 is the smallest electronic safety interlock in the world, with a holding force of 2000 N. With great angle flexibility, AZM40 can easily fit into confined spaces and areas that are difficult to access. Similarly compact is the RSS260 RFID safety sensor, equipped with new software and four additional features that can be selected as required. RSS260 offers cost savings on safety relay modules, including reduced wiring and installation effort. The PROTECT PSC1 safety controller lets the user engage an integrated universal communication interface as a gateway to transmit diagnostics information from safety sensors to a higher-level control system. PROTECT PSC1 offers a modular, programmable controller that allows easy implementation of safety requirements specifically targeted for different machinery. Schmersal is also promoting SPS 2021, a successor to the PROTECT PSC1 with a range of additional features.
Finally, Schmersal is unveiling several solutions to help master increasingly complex safety measures for larger machinery and systems. The Safety Fieldbox enables flexible and individually configurable safety solutions, plus fail-safe plug-and-play installation of a divergent range of switches. The SD bus from Schmersal is a system designed for serial diagnosis of series circuits. Combined with the PSC1 safety controller solution with OPC UA connection, it gives the serial bus SD 4.0 capabilities with maximum design convenience and ease of scalability.
