EW takes a look at Phoenix Modular Elevator, manufacturers and installers of modular elevators since 1998.

Phoenix Modular Elevator (PME) has been manufacturing and installing modular elevators across the U.S. since 1998. In 2009, PME purchased the assets of Infinite Access Corp., including its AC3000 patent, and started manufacturing under the PME name. Using the Mount Vernon, Illinois, facilities, it continues to work with many of the original key design and production personnel from Infinite Access.

PME’s elevators are Americans with Disabilities Act compliant and designed to be easily installed, making them suitable for new construction or older buildings in need of retrofits. PME offers commercial elevators in eight standard footprints, that meet the requirements of most projects. In addition, the company can custom size its elevators to fit an existing hoistway or challenging building configuration. PME elevators have been installed in various applications, from schools and stadiums to hotels and international airports.

Product Lines

For travel up to 28 feet, PME’s AC3000 line of products provide a single, self-supporting hoistway tower with all elevator components pre-installed inside. For travel greater than 28 feet, the AC4000 line stacks multiple hoistways to the desired level of travel distance up to the hydraulic jack limit of 80 feet. The elevator car and jacks are pre-installed inside the bottom section, and the rails, electrical and entrances are installed in each section. The additional sections are craned into position, bolted to each other and attached to the building. All footprints, including custom, are available in both AC3000 and AC4000 versions.

In addition, all PME elevators are compliant with ASME 17.1 (2004 or 2007, depending on state requirements); available with in-ground or holeless jacks; and available with any combination of front and rear exits.

Projects

Among PME’s projects are the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois; Harrisburg International Airport in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Kean University Stadium in Union, New Jersey. PME modular equipment has also been installed in more than 200 schools throughout California. Additionally, the company’s design has passed the rigorous criteria required by the Division of the State Architect for California schools criteria and holds Pre-Check approval.
