Photo Contest 2013 Winners

Photo-Contest-2013-Winners

ELEVATOR WORLD’s first photo contest enjoyed high participation rates from a wide spectrum of photographers and more than 1,000 reader votes.

ELEVATOR WORLD’s first photo contest proved to be a smashing success, with more than 200 entries in five categories and more than 1,000 votes cast by EW readers for their favorite photos. Photo submissions were accepted February 1-April 30 in five categories: Skylines and Tall Buildings; Elevators; Escalators/Moving Walkways; Inclined Lifts; and Elevator Cabs. During May, readers were able to cast votes on the EW website for their favorite photographs.

We were not only pleased with the response to the contest, but excited by the quality and range of the photos entered. We even felt compelled to create a bonus category – Machines and Components – so we could showcase a few more of the wonderful photographs we received. Photographs were submitted by employees of elevator companies large and small, as well as by amateur and professional independent photographers with keen eyes for capturing the dynamic world of vertical transportation. First-place photographs span the globe, hailing from Hong Kong, Portugal, the U.K., Italy and the U.S., while runners-up cover even more of the map.

We congratulate all the winning photographers and their photographs. And, we thank all those who took the time to submit them. We look forward to our Second Annual EW Photo Contest and will begin accepting entries in February 2014. More information for next year’s contest will be available on the EW website. All qualified photo submissions from this year’s contest will be posted in a special Photo Contest gallery at Photo Contest during August.
