In this issue, we will discuss how we can reduce our costs and make maximum use of current incentives. We all know that every crisis actually breeds an opportunity. One of the largest production items in the lift and escalator industry has always been energy. A report called Türkiye’s Solar Energy Potential Atlas (GEPA) has been published by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. [1] According to the report, the total sunshine duration of our country in a year is determined as 2,737 h, indicating that the daily sun exposure corresponds to approximately 7.5 h.
Türkiye has the ability to produce solar energy on average 114 days a year. This is quite a serious figure compared to other countries. That’s why investments focused on solar energy significantly reduce energy input costs.
For your investment in the field of Solar Energy Systems, you can use a zero-interest loan of US$450,000 from KOSGEB, depending on the size of your company. KOSGEB also gives you the opportunity to pay it in four equal installments after 24 months and at the fixed exchange rate you have taken. If we consider the profit you will earn from the electricity you produce during this period, it is obvious that the company’s earnings will reach maximum levels. If you increase capacity, you can get up to TRY 2 million with a letter of intent from a global company, 50% of the project budget from the Ministry of Commerce and — if you can provide a letter of guarantee- —75% from Exim Bank. It is possible to pay the remaining 25% with a maturity of 36 months while Exim Bank and the Ministry of Commerce net off.
Green Agreement
As part of combating climate change, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which our country joined on May 24, 2004, is the first and most important step taken internationally. In this regard, the Paris Agreement was adopted at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC held in Paris in 2015. Our country signed the Paris Agreement with representatives of 175 countries at the High-Level Signing Ceremony held in New York on April 22, 2016. The Agreement, which we approved on October 6, 2021, entered into force on November 10, 2021, and our country’s 2053 carbon-neutral target was announced in this process.
To achieve the European Union’s (EU) rising targets within the scope of the European Green Deal, a wide range of legislation and strategies of the EU are being comprehensively reviewed by the European Commission, including the regulations made under the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism and the Sustainable Product Initiative, the draft Waste Shipment Regulation and the legislation on chemicals. Studies such as the ongoing review process will significantly affect our exports to the EU and the integration provided by the Customs Union.
The companies exporting in the field of green transformation and green agreement can receive up to TRY 2 million (50% of which will be a grant) from the Ministry of Trade regarding the energy survey, energy management system, ISO 500001 Energy Management Systems and carbon calculation, carbon footprint certifications in order to avoid the tax processes and tax areas to be applied in the border carbon adjustment mechanism.
