Previously Postponed Events are Being Held Successively

Dear Readers of Elevator World Turkey,

Since the pandemic is not our priority nowadays, previously postponed events are being held successively. First, Asansör Istanbul opened its doors during a heavy snow, which is something rare for Istanbul. At the four-day event under heavy snow, the number of foreign exhibitors decreased while the domestic exhibitors used more fairground and filled the halls in TUYAP. It was evident that everyone longed for in-person meetings and such organizations.

Before Asansör Istanbul, Fermator Istanbul Branch organized an event for its guests from Middle East. At Fermator’s first event after the pandemic, guests were hosted in Fermator’s Akasya office and Sahan restaurant. Fermator, which had announced its facilities in Falset had stopped production due to roof collapse because of the heavy snow last year, has now remobilized.

Annually organized Yapı-TurkeyBuild has been held for its 44th time at TUYAP Fair Convention and Congress Center.  Despite the decreasing number of exhibitors and halls compared to previous exhibitions, the number of visitors was considerably satisfying. Like last year, our sector has been represented by the associations at the event.

Despite their decreasing popularity and the consideration that they will not be used anymore due to the presence of machine-room-less elevators, hydraulic lifts are still preferable for freight lifts and in low-rise buildings.  Therefore, our focus is Hydraulic Lifts in this issue. Esteemed authors like Erol Akçay, Ertuğrul Kurt, Fernando Guillemi, Nadja Ramu, Lee Gray and others contributed with their articles.

Due to the month of Ramadan, one of the meeting points for the sector was the iftar tables. Companies and particularly the associations hosted their guests at iftar dinners. Although we, Elevator World family, did not have the chance to attend all these invitations, we would like to extend our thanks. One of the associations, ANASDER, met for breakfast before the month of Ramadan in Ankara and discussed the problems of the members and proposed solutions.

Aegean Elevator and Escalator Industrialists’ Association (EAYSAD) held its Ordinary General Meeting for 2020-2021 period and its Traditional Iftar Dinner Organization on April 21, 2022. EAYSAD’s new Board for the 2022-2023 period has been elected at the meeting.

Since many previously postponed events will be held in spring and summer months this year, we have very busy days ahead. We will inform you about all these activities in our next issue, including the details of interlift.

I hope we will get ahead of these high-inflation days and problematic raw material procurement like we did with the pandemic.
