Hadid-Designed 62-Story Tower With KONE VT System Opens

The 62-story One Thousand Museum, the late Zaha Hadid’s final residential tower in the U.S. (ELEVATOR WORLD, April 2018), is open in downtown Miami, The Architect’s Newspaper reported in July. Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) told EW the vertical-transportation (VT) system, which includes elevators and a car lift, was provided by KONE. At 707 ft tall the fourth-tallest structure in Florida, One Thousand Museum is striking, with a white concrete “web of flowing lines” on the façade that have earned it the nickname Scorpion Tower. Located on Biscayne Boulevard overlooking a 30-acre urban greenspace called Museum Park, One Thousand Museum holds 84 almost entirely column-free units and an array of amenities.

Private Residential Elevators Among 57-Story Tower Amenities

All 100 residences in the 57-story, 649-ft-tall Elysee tower (EW, October 2015), designed by Arquitectonica and developed by Two Roads Development on the bayfront in Miami’s Edgewood neighborhood, will boast private elevators and foyers, according to Construction Dive. In June, general contractor John Moriarty & Associates ( JMA) had reached the 35th floor, expecting a full floor to be completed each week until the tower tops out in the fall. JMA told EW that Otis is providing the elevator system. Arquitectonica’s Bernardo Fort-Brescia conceived the structure’s glassy, three-tiered design. Among the amenities are indoor and outdoor pools, expansive terraces and private resident areas, including a three-floor amenities level and a rooftop sky lounge. Completion is expected in 2020.
