Product of the Year 2024

New and Improved

Innovation is at the core of the elevator industry, and ELEVATOR WORLD is proud to again recognize the achievements of manufacturers whose products — brought to the vertical-transportation market between March 2023-July 1, 2024 — are considered particularly noteworthy or innovative for the fourth annual Product of the Year Award. The products featured represent advances in technology or application, innovative or improved design, price/performance improvements and potential for further development. This special section contains detailed listings of the 10 products up for consideration this year, and you have the opportunity, along with an impartial panel of experienced industry experts and professionals, to help choose this year’s winner by voting online on October 7-11 at elevatorworld.com. The winner and two finalists will be announced in November with an email blast and news in ELENET, along with receiving a framable certificate, a digital awards decal to use in marketing and a feature in the 2025 Elevator World SOURCE Directory. The winner will also receive a Product of the Year trophy to keep and display in the office or at industry events.

HydraSafe® Brake HydraSafe

HydraSafe® Brake saw a need in the industry for an improved option for an ascending car and unintended motion device. HydraSafe Brake is our answer to the limitations of conventional hoist rope braking devices and sheave mounted discs. HydraSafe Brake can stop any elevator that uses T-Rails as guiding members for a more positive and less obtrusive stop in case of component failure along with meeting and exceeding all related ASME codes for unintended/ascending movement. The device activation is simple, as it works like a set of disc brakes on an automobile, they are installed on the elevator.

Other uses for the HydraSafe Brake are on hydraulic elevators where currently there is no type of safety device to prevent a hydraulic elevator from falling into the pit due to single bottom cylinder failure, overloading, catastrophic failure, a loose coupling on a hydraulic fluid line, failed rupture valve etc. HydraSafe Brake will also hold the car level at any landing for passengers to enter or exit the elevator or loading material in and out of an elevator and avoid a tripping hazard from continuous releveling.

Our device is certified by Liftinstituut for speeds up to 1400 ft/min and includes a caliper body and power unit. These components are housed in a UL-approved enclosure containing a pump unit, valve, relays, wiring, stud block and an accumulator. We are in the final stages of securing certification from CSA for the entire unit based on A17.5 B44 2019 standards.
