Public and Elevator Sector Meets in Ankara

“Public and Elevator Sector Meeting” was held in Ankara İvedik Organized Industrial Zone conference hall in cooperation with Ankara Provincial Directorate of Industry and Technology, Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), Türkiye Elevator Industrialists Federation (TASFED) and Anatolian Elevator Industrialists Association (ANASDER) on July 21, 2022.

During the half-day event, representatives from public and elevator sector came together at the conference hall of İvedik Organized Industrial Zone. The Ministry of Industry and Technology’s General Directorate of Metrology and Industrial Products Safety Deputy General Manager Sıdıka Çiğdem Kanmaz,  Head of the Machinery Department of the General Directorate of Industry Dinçer Gonca, Elevator and Ropeway Department Branch Manager İlyas Menderes Büyüklü, Branch Manager of the Elevator and Cable Car Department, Ankara Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Muhammed Polat, Ankara Provincial Directorate Supervision Department Manager Mehmet Cevher, TSE representatives Yavuz Çetinkaya, Abdulhadi Şengül and Tarık Öztürk, TASFED President Yusuf Atik, AYSAD President Oğuzhan Bulgurluoğlu, ANASDER President Hakan Başkaraağaç and sector representatives  attended the event. ANASDER President Hakan Başkaraağaç, TASFED President Yusuf Atik, and Ankara Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Muhammed Polat made opening speeches at the meeting moderated by TASFED Secretary General Gülay Pala.

After the opening speeches, TASFED Board Member İbrahim Özçakır, ANASDER Board Member Ali Osman Karademir and TASFED and ANASDER Board Member Zafer Karabay made presentations. Basic problems of the sector have been discussed with the public authorities.

İbrahim Özçakır made the first presentation of the event and told the developments experience in the sector. He reminded the main titles of Elevator Market Surveillance Directive and Lift Directive.

ANASDER Board Member Ali Osman Karademir made a presentation titled “Suggestions for the Elevator Installers and Authorized Services on Globalization.” Ali Osman Karademir listed his solution suggestions with his presentation where his different perspective on the current problems got credit. Karademis underlined possible changes on the sector with the support of public authorities and shared his opinions with the attendees.

3 thousand certified companies vs 20 thousand uncertified companies

TASFED and ANASDER Board Member Zafer Karabay made an evaluation on the reflections of theoretical decisions on the field. He talked about unfair competition in elevator sector, which is a strategic sector, and listed solution proposals for these problems. Karabay underlined the quality standards of the elevator sector and the number of certified companies and stated that the number of uncertified companies, which is 20 thousand, brings unfair competition as well as trust issues in Turkish brands.

İlyas Menderes Büyüklü, Elevator and Ropeway Department Branch Manager from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, made a presentation titled “The Responsibilities of the Installers in line with the National Legislation” and told some details about the  Lift Directive, current Elevator Operation and Maintenance Directive, Elevator Periodic Control Directive and  the Notification of the Rules and Procedures on Elevator Design. Büyüklü explained the directives and their reflections in the field with details and answered the questions.

Muhammed İspiroğlu, who  attends the event on behalf of the General Directorate of Metrology and Safety of Industrial Products, shared information about market surveillance practices with his presentation titled “Elevator Market Surveillance Directive.”

Engineer Yavuz Çetinkaya, Inspection Specialist Abdulhadi Şengül and Service Place Competence Certification Specialist Tarık Öztürk from Turkish Standards Institute presentations on the certification processes carried out by the institute and the problems encountered in the field and answered the questions of the sector representatives.

A Q&A session is held after the event. The questions compiled by TASFED before the event, gathered from the representatives of the sector, are asked to the public authorities.  The authorities from the Ministry and TSE, who attended the event, answered these questions.

Finally, plaque of appreciation was presented to the public authorities who participated the event.
