ELEVATOR WORLD first reported on the Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach, Miami, in our September 2015 issue. The first-of-their-kind car lifts were installed under the ASME A17.7 performance-based code by Mid-American Elevator Co. of Chicago. Dubbed “Dezervators” after Gil Dezer of Dezer Development, which built the tower, they include patented technology that allows the driver to stay inside a vehicle while riding the elevator. It takes only 75 s. to get to any apartment in the tower. The high-rise parking spaces are called “sky garages” and located either adjacent to a living space or one story below the home accessible via an internal staircase, CNN reported.
