The Regulator, Brake and (Unintended Car Movement) UCM Systems Workshop, organized by the Turkish Elevator Industrialists’ Federation (TASFED), took place on March 6 at Ankara H&M Commerce Hotel.
The workshop was held as a group at the same time with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Turkish Standards Institute, Regulator and Brake Systems Manufacturers, Certification and Inspection Bodies and Installation and Maintenance Companies.
TASFED Secretary in General Gülay Pala, who first took the podium and introduced the speakers, gave the floor to TASFED Chairman of the Board of Directors Yusuf Atik for the opening speech. Yusuf Atik said that they decided to organize this workshop after the expert report of the elevator accident that occurred in Aydın was announced. He explained that there are problems in the market and the importance of identifying and eliminating problems. Atik said, “In order for the sector to take its rightful place in the world, the most important issue is security equipment, and this equipment should work very well. The workshop will bring the sector together, and in order to solve the problems, the Ministry, manufacturing, assembly and supervisors should come together to identify and solve the problems.”
Afterward, Serkan Çelik, deputy general manager of the Ministry of Industry, took the floor. He thanked the parties who contributed to the organization of the workshop and said, “There are very good developments, but there is also a lot to be done. There are also many applications to the Ministry; I wish the workshop to be successful. Our legislative work continues.”
Afterward, MESYEB General Manager Ramazan Karekök took the floor. In his speech, Karekök said, “Production is very important, it will determine the future of the design, production and certification sector. We established our center with excitement, and we continue it with determination. Our relations with international organizations are also excellent, I am proud. I congratulate the President for the workshop, I believe that very good results will be obtained, and we are with you until the end.”
Finally, Cem Bozdağ, deputy president of the Federation, took the floor. In his speech, Bozdağ said, “Mr. Yusuf in the hall has a saying: ‘Do not escape when you are called, do not appear where you are not called.’ I know that many of you come from far away, thank you all individually. There are four tables in our workshop. Each table will discuss each topic on a rotating basis, led by moderators. In the evening, after the workshop, the moderators will meet and prepare a short summary. About a month later, the Workshop Report will be prepared and shared with the sector and the public. Our aim is to examine the subject under three headings: the aspects we are good at, the areas that are weak and to be improved and the things we have done wrong. The workshop topics are written, but you can go off topic and make additions; we expect proactive work. Moderators and tables will be determined, problems and solutions will be proposed and institutions that need cooperation will be specified. We paid attention to distribute equal amounts of participants at each table according to their branches homogeneously. We would like to thank our sponsors and you.”
Türkiye’s leading safety component manufacturers Zorlu, Can Lift, Aspar, Özbeşler, Prolift, SMAS, Erkan, Selkas and Elko supported the workshop with their sponsorships.
After the opening speeches, the workshop started with intense participation and heated discussions. After the lunch break after the first session, it continued with the same efficiency.
At the end of the workshop, the table moderators touched on the main items of the workshop report to be announced in the coming days and answered the questions. At the end of the day, all the participants of the workshop came to a setting for a group photo shoot.
