Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality has implemented the Remote Monitoring Center (UZIMER), which monitors 51 escalators and 18 elevators in pedestrian interchanges, passages and tramway stops from a single center using 88 cameras.
Stating that the escalators and elevators in pedestrian interchanges, passages and tramway stops provide great convenience for the citizens, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said their aim was to provide more comfortable, uninterrupted service. “We monitor 51 escalators and 18 elevators from a single center with 88 cameras, 24/7. We do not only monitor them, but also respond to the failures immediately. Since the fiber optic infrastructure belongs to us, we do not pay any fees for the internet,” said Büyükkılıç.
UZIMER, established in cooperation with the Information Technology Department within the Machinery Supply, Maintenance and Repair Department, can also accommodate voice calls by pressing the help button when someone is stuck in the elevator.
Following its installation, the system provided 55% savings in operational costs, an 80% increase in service quality and an 86% decrease in man-made observation errors.
