Iconic Tower, at 393.8 m tall and 77 stories a supertall, is making progress in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital (NAC)

Dear Readers of Elevator World Türkiye,

Last year, Elevator World, Inc., updated its website. First, ELEVATOR WORLD magazine was presented to its readers’ tastes. Then, the EW Europe and EW Türkiye magazines were incorporated into to new website. You may now find EW Türkiye, including all its archived materials, at elevatorworld.com/turkiye.

LiftCity Expo Cairo was the only international event of the sector organized during the inactive July-August period. EW Middle East was the official press sponsor of the exhibition, which met its visitors at one hall. You may read the details of the exhibition, where companies from Türkiye and China also had booths, in this issue.

In order to discuss the problems of the sector and their proposed solutions with the public authorities, the Public and Elevator Sector Meeting led by Türkiye Elevator Industrialists Federation was held in July in Ankara. During the half-day event, representatives from the elevator sector had the opportunity to explain their problems to public authorities in person.

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), founded in one of the most industrial cities of Türkiye, is a very active chamber that has professional activities in the elevator sector. BTSO members held important meetings during their official visit to Uzbekistan between June 29 and July 3.

The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks about elevators has always been “safety.” As buildings rise ever taller in metropolitan cities, the number of elevator installations increases proportionally. Elevator safety is not limited to components failing or people falling. Elevators also play an important role in the evacuation of high-rise buildings in case of disasters such as earthquakes and fires. Within this context, you may read articles by Erol Akçay, Serdar Tavaslıoğlu, Dr. Lee Gray and Hongliang Liang in this issue.

The 10th iteration of the annual EW Photo Contest was highly competitive. EW received 179 submissions, with 3,070 votes resulting in 126 finalists. Photos were submitted in 11 categories, including a new one: The Elevator Family. Longstanding family companies in the sector shared creative and lively images.

In this issue, you will also find contenders for Product of the Year, another EW contest held for the second time this year. For this contest, in which 11 products compete, you have the opportunity to help choose this year’s winner by voting online from September 26-30 at Product of the year page.

See you next issue. Have a nice reading.
