Shooting Ranges and Elevator Rides

In 2015, The Memphis Pyramid, a local landmark that was once a popular sports and entertainment arena, became a Bass Pro Shops megastore. The store contains everything from a shooting gallery, an aquarium, restaurants, a spa and Memphis’ only five-star hotel, as well as what it calls “the world’s tallest freestanding elevator.” At 28 stories, the elevator carries riders to the Pyramid’s apex, “The Lookout,” where multiple glass observation decks overlook the banks of the Mississippi River and downtown Memphis. On the way up, riders can enjoy the recorded narration about the building’s history and current incarnation.
