Catania, Italy, is home to what thyssenkrupp says are probably “the world’s shortest moving walks that give customers an unprecedented shopping experience.” The company installed the shortest iWalks it’s created in a supermarket in the city’s center to overcome a 60-cm height difference from street to market level. Two 7-m-long units were modified to be in the shape of two modules shorter than 4 m. At 0.5 mps, shoppers will be in and out of the store quicker than what the alternative, a boring access ramp, would have allowed.
